The only beach vehicles that should ever be seen on the beach are law enforcement, rescue, maintenance, and park rangers. Any other vehicles must have a permit, which is issued by the local authorities or park system.
Lifeguard vehicles are the most common vehicles driving on beach. Lifeguards are trained extensively for driving on the sand in crowded conditions. In most cases where there is an option, lifeguards will avoid driving on the sand near beach goers. When it is necessary for lifeguard vehicles to travel on the sand, they usually follow a similar path or a use a designated lane. It is important to always supervise children and keep them away from parked vehicles and their pathways.
